Root Canal Treatment
Endodontic treatment is necessary when the pulp, the soft tissue inside the root canal, becomes inflamed or infected.
The inflammation or infection can have a variety of causes: deep decay, repeated dental procedures on the tooth, or a crack or chip in the tooth. Root canal treatment aims to clean, shape and fill the entire root canal of a tooth with biocompatible filler.
Reasons For The Root Canal Treatment
Progress of the bacteria in tooth decay continue to cause the pain and pressure. Without treatment, a collection of pus (abscess) can form at the root tip. This can lead to pain and swelling and may cause damage to the bone around your tooth.
Other reasons include;
- Trauma of tooth or jaw.
- The physical irritation caused by deep decay.
- Advanced gum disease.
- Fillings and prosthetic applications applied incorrect occlusion.
- Orthodontic treatment was applied incorrectly.
How To Treat?
The endodontist examines and x-rays the tooth, then administers local anesthetic and makes a cavity in the crown of the tooth.
Later in the nerve tissue of the tooth roots and root canals are cleaned and shaped.
Finally, the root canals are filled with biocompatible canal filler.
All these operations are performed on an appointment of only 1?2 -1 hour.
